Just talking to people has taken my business from where it began (scratch) to the success it is today and it’s simple advice you should follow.

Just talking to people has taken my business from where it began (scratch) to the success it is today and it’s simple advice you should follow.

In the last few months, a lot of connections have woven in with other connections and I’m finding how small a world it really is. Just talking to people creates opportunity. Everything seems to come full circle.

If you are sitting with a friend - TALK! What is your friend up to? Who have they met lately? Where have they gone or where are they going lately? Talk about everything. *I just got a text from a friend/colleague because he saw my name on a list of attendees at an upcoming event. He said he would be there, and we are so excited - coffee, food, drinks and a ton to catch up on. We have a plan to get together!

If you run into an old friend - TALK! What have they been doing the past few years? What has changed? Can you connect them to anyone and in turn, can they connect you to anyone? What have they learned along the way? *I love talking to people that I knew during my printing years and figuring out a way for us to continue to help one another in our new chapters of life. I’m having breakfast with a woman I’ve known for 10 years in a few weeks and it’s the first time we’ve really talked business in ages.

If you see a friend of a friend - TALK! Talk about your mutual connection. Find common ground. Ask them about their business. Tell them about yours. *I often go up to people at events and tell them I know someone they know to get the conversation rolling. I’ve secured many deals and found new clients this way. The world is small, embrace it.

If you're at an event and meet a stranger - TALK! Find out what they do. Tell them what you do. Spend some time to find out about them as a person, their interests, their hobbies, find common ground. Ask them about connections they have, see if you can connect them to someone else. *Be of service and help people connect to each other and believe me, it will come back to you. I’ve met a ‘stranger’ that has become a guest on my podcast mere weeks later.

If you’re alone but see someone across the room you want to talk to - TALK! Hey, let’s get together when we’re both free. *Seize potential opportunity everywhere. I am meeting a woman in Malibu next week when I’m visiting my son in CA and I have no idea where it will lead yet. I’m just excited.

Just talk to people and great things happen.
