Obamacare Is Now Law: How Can This Help You?
Guestpert: Dr. Rick Morris
Category: Business and Finance

Speaking Point: Obamacare got the green light from the Supreme Court, 30 million more Americans will be covered, 45,000 fewer Americans may die per year due to a lack of health insurance. There will be amazing tax benefits for some and new costs for others. Let’s see how you come out with the new plan.

Speaking Point: By 2014, small businesses will save up to 50% of their insurance premiums off their taxes and deduct the other 50% from their earnings. This is a BIG savings.

Speaking Point: The greatest savings go to the small employers with fewer than 25 employees.

Speaking Point: Contrary to TV talking points, there ARE cost savings built into this program: Requiring insurers to spend 80-85% on medical care (rather than the current 70% ), greater preventative care and enlarging the healthy patient base. These all lower premiums.

Speaking Point: A family making less than $30,000/year should pay no healthcare premiums, those making $55,000/year should save $6600/year, while families making $100,000 should save $2300/year.

Speaking Point: The costs of the program are confusing. While the total cost for the nation's healthcare will go up (because 30 million more Americans will be covered), individual costs should go down, especially considering the better coverage most of us will receive. It's projected to actually lower our nation's debt, since everyone will be paying something.

Speaking Point: Those refusing to pay for their healthcare will be penalized (taxed) 1% of their income or $95, whatever is greater.
