Speaking Point: Should job candidates fork over their passwords to potential employers who dare to ask? That depends. The real question for job candidates is how much they need the job and if the need is desperate. Speaking Point: A candidate might need to break some rules he or she would not normally compromise on. But some information is sacred and should be shared. Speaking Point: A candidate should also keep in mind that an employer who asks for confidential information may not respect boundaries. Speaking Point: If asked for this information a candidate should tell the employer that they can and should check her Facebook page. She should also offer to "Friend" them. But she could not divulge her password for all of the "obvious" reasons...that it would be the equivalent of giving them an ATM pin. Speaking Point: Also explain to the potential employer that sharing this password with them would betray the confidence of many friends and family members who are sharing confidential information.
