Speaking Point: Does Tammie Powers who claims her daughter Jordan has been sexually abused, have mother's intuition? Speaking Point: Sex, Lies and Denial: James Hooker, 41 formerly a teacher at Modesto high school said, "While Jordan was a student in my business class, I didn't think twice about her". Yet, 8,000 text messages between him and his 18-year-old student were exchanged along with late night phone calls. In their interview on Good Morning America, while eating my breakfast, my stomach turned. Something is seriously wrong here. Speaking Point: Jordan Powers thinks she is in love but the dynamic I see between Jordan Powers and James Hooker is Stockholm Syndrome "a paradoxical psychological phenomenon in which hostages express empathy and have positive feelings towards their captors, sometimes to the point of defending them". Speaking Point: The Feelings Are False: The now couple stick to their belief that their feelings developed slowly for each other. I think that the minute Jordan Powers attended his first class, Hooker surveyed the room of students and zoned in on her. Even when people aren't consciously intuitive, they can just know things. I think Hooker, picked up on Jordan's vulnerability, her desire for approval. That's how he won Jordan's affection. Speaking Point: Jordan is under a spell. The more Jordan's mother Tammie Powers tries to get back her daughter and prove that this man is abusing her, the more Jordan will reject her mother and family, instead running into the arms of her former teacher. Speaking Point: Pregnancy on the Cards. Right now, as the police investigation heats up, James Hooker will be campaigning to Jordan that he wants to have a baby with her. To a woman, a man saying he wants you to have his child is an ultimate expression of love. In this situation, Hooker's agenda is to trap and control Jordan, keep her away from her family. Speaking Point: Teacher-Student Relationship Stigma. Hooker said "I think the stigma of the teacher-student relationship just makes it messy, makes it really hard for people to get through to the point that we really do like each other, he said. "We really do want to have a future together." Hooker is a destructive man with serious psychological problems that he is not aware of. His words and actions don't make sense. This relationship needs to be broken before more damage is done. A student often times looks to a teacher as an authority figure. Someone who knows what is best. Jordan Powers trusted her teacher, a man who is not to be trusted.
