Speaking Point: So many women these days approach life in a forceful, aggressive, and competitive way (in other words as an alpha bitch.) This stressful, anxiety ridden, pressure-laden stance wreaks havoc on them, physically and emotionally (not to mention it greatly affects their creativity, too.) Speaking Point: Studies in animal behavior show that the “alpha” of the pack has a significantly shorter life span as compared to their non-alpha counterparts. A compelling theory is because the alpha is always “on,” the stress that accumulates over time eventually causes their bodies to break down. Speaking Point: Pushing and forcing to get what they want creates undue stress in the body making women susceptible to illness and disease. They are perpetually in flight or flight mode, placing the body is in a constant state of adrenaline overload. Long-term exposure to stress disrupts every system in the body and can lead to serious health problems. It can raise blood pressure, suppress the immune system, increase the risk of heart attack and stroke (heart disease being the number one killer of women), contribute to infertility, and accelerate the aging process. Speaking Point: With an intensely stressful lifestyle comes every woman’s least favorite side-effect—weight gain! When the constant, crazy demands women put on themselves stress them out, their cortisol levels rise, slowing their metabolisms. As if a slow metabolism isn’t bad enough, when feeling depleted, exhausted, and drained, many women refuel with fatty, sugary foods that are high in calories. Speaking Point: The frantic, anxious, fear-based emotions of the alpha bitch, lead to emotional eating of “comfort foods.” They may try to quell the inner emptiness and anxiety by filling up with sugary, starchy foods. At the end of a long, hectic, pressure-filled day, they can always count on their friends—Ben & Jerry—to comfort and console them. Speaking Point: Chronic stress can even rewire the brain, leaving women more vulnerable to anxiety and depression. (One in four women suffers from depression, and anxiety is the most common mental disorder in the U.S.) The pressures of being an alpha puts women in a constant state of overdrive, and this leads to burnout and exhaustion (the biggest issue women report is feeling overwhelmed.) Speaking Point: Living from a tense, terse alpha bitch stance leaves women angry. Anger is a powerful emotion, and many alphas “go to” emotion. Just five minutes of anger suppresses the immune system for hours. Being in a constant state of anger and agitation denies women the defenses they need to ward off diseases like cancer. Speaking Point: Approaching life in an Alpha Bitch manner works against women because it introduces conflict, struggle, and tension to their personal and professional relationships. The alpha’s hyper-tense, critical, controlling manner is passed onto their family members. The children especially internalize all of that stress. Partners are on red alert. They become vigilant and anxious afraid to say or do the wrong thing, disappoint, or anger their partner. The controlling Alpha can be so critical and caustic that it’s impossible to feel good about oneself. Living with someone who is constantly looking over your shoulder and making comments about everything you do or don't do, can lower others self esteem and cause them to become depressed. Speaking Point: Approaching life in an alpha bitch manner drastically affects a woman’s creative energy, too. Because the underlying beliefs that fuel the behavior are based in fear and scarcity – low vibrations that are out of alignment with abundance—they are manifesting from this point of attraction. .
