The Correlation of How You Look To How Much Money You Make

Speaking Point: According to Albert Einstein, everything is energy. All self-help books beginning with Napoleon Hill’s best selling book Think and Grow Rich, discuss the importance of understanding how energy and the laws of attraction create all of our experiences in life, including prosperity and abundance. For most people, in order to attract wealth they must look attractive. In other words, they have to feel rich in order to become rich. Although many people are convinced this is the reverse. A great image is the most overlooked aspect of success in this country.

Speaking Point: Every time a person looks in the mirror, they need to see themselves as successful. Norman Vincent Peale wrote about this over fifty years ago when he coined the concept of “fake it till you make it”. In other words, we need to look the part, act the part and then we become the part.

Speaking Point: Countless image studies have shown that how we are perceived, affects how we are received. Therefore, if we look successful, if our body language speaks of confidence and we act successful, we have a greater chance of becoming successful much faster than people who don’t.

Speaking Point: About 17 years ago ABC ran a hidden camera 2 part series called Lookism. In it they followed two men and two women to their job interviews. One man and woman were good looking and dressed very well. The other man and woman were less good looking and didn’t dress exceptionally well. The better-looking couple was hired on the spot, offered higher pay and a much better benefits package.

Speaking Point: When asked, the human resource executives said they hired the good-looking man and woman because “These people looked like our company’s image. They were more qualified and competent. Most importantly they believed they would do a better job. The less good-looking man and woman were actually smarter, more educated and much more qualified. But their poor image created a mis-perception, a negative first impression that could not be overcome in a job interview where the competition is usually fierce.

Speaking Point: This all goes back to energy. If we look great, we vibrate a different level of expertise, competence and success. People then pick up on that energy which they can tangibly see and feel. This instills more confidence and trust in our abilities.

Speaking Point: Therefore, I say, when economic times are tough, go buy something to wear that will make you feel rich (even if you buy it in a discount store, designer resale clothing store or Ebay). All that counts is that you feel more successful and gain that competitive edge to get the result you want…financial prosperity!
