Sustainability means more than ‘Green’
If someone were to use one word to describe Dr. Barbara Gothard’s approach to life and career, the word would be evolution whose mission is to charge corporations with their commitment to social responsibility, financial solvency, and environmental accountability.
Having weathered her own dramatic personal changes as an indirect catalyst to significant
professional change, this corporate counselor, understands the delicate relationship between desire and results for both her clients and the corporations and countries in which she inspires.
“I have truly evolved from one transition to another on my non-linear career path,” says
the well-respected business woman who grew up in a landlocked town in the Midwest. “I have traveled the world through and understand the impact of our decisions – intended or unintended, and I have evolved to each and every challenge presented before me turning them into unprecedented opportunities. My risks, although, not always calculated, have become an integral part of this evolution.”
Dr. Gothard’s path has zigzagged from art teacher to principal while raising a family and finishing a Ph.D to leaving education and changing family status; to joining the corporate sector for Burger King Corporation then joining the entrepreneurial ranks as founder and President of a public affairs consulting firm called, “The Gothard Group”; which led to a return to the corporate world for the Dow Chemical Company, but this time in South Africa at a time of tremendous national change which lead to another transition of “giving back” in the form of the non-profit organization, “The Jackie Robinson Foundation” which provided scholarships for students of color who are academically talented but financially challenged.
Today, as partner of “EQ Concepts”, a consultancy that is focused on increasing brand value for companies with sustainable growth for global leaders, Dr. Barbara Gothard navigates circumstances with an acute awareness both individually and globally to a beneficial outcomes.
