Dr. Sheila began her professional journey at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore Maryland. Combining her love of people with a pre-law curriculum, Dr. Sheila graduated with a degree in international relations. From there, she went on to earn a law degree from Boston University.
Recruited out of law school for a job as a civil litigation attorney by a prestigious Los Angeles law firm, Dr. Sheila packed her bags and headed west. She spent almost a decade practicing civil and family law before making the decision to study psychology.
With her degrees in international relations and law in hand, Dr. Sheila went on to earn a doctorate in psychology.
Combining her licenses to practice law and psychology, Dr. Sheila built a highly successful private psychotherapy practice treating individuals, couples and families for issues ranging from anxiety, depression, and eating disorders to bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, as well as, teaching and consulting with legal and mental health professional on forensic psychology matters. She is also a trained mediator and certified group psychotherapist.
Recently, Dr. Sheila was invited to join the faculty of Loyola Marymount University's Department of Psychology to teach survey classes in general and forensic psychology.
Along the way, she published two self-help books: Self-fullness: The Art of Loving and Caring for Your 'Self' and Do You Use Food to Cope? A Comprehensive 15-Week Program for Overcoming Emotional Overeating. Dr. Sheila is also the author of the e-book, Plan B: How To Create a New Life When the Life You Has Isn't the Life You Want - The Manual.
In addition, Dr. Sheila has written a childrens e-book series titled, The Incredible Adventures of An Unusual Dog inspired by stories about her own dog, Max.
Dr. Sheila is a frequent contributor on national and cable television speaking on a wide range of issues from the psychological and emotional tolls of cancer to the playful aspects of digital dating. She is currently the psychology expert for World Health News Today addressing all aspects of health psychology including heart disease, diabetes, parenting, fertility, post-partum depression, and teen pregnancy.
Dr. Sheila is the host of Let's Talk with Dr. Sheila, an internet radio show which addresses all of life's issues from both a psychological and legal point of view.
Her presence on and off the air is captivating. Being both a clinical psychologist and trial attorney, she has a unique array of communication, speaking, and presentation skills.
Dr. Sheila loves being psychologist and an attorney. She appreciates being invited into people's lives to help them solve their problems, heal their pain, and create the destinies they want. She considers it an honor and a privilege to be of such service to humanity.
