What do you get when you cross a CIA Intelligence Analyst, a Radio City Rockette and a resourceful entrepreneur with a color copier?
Katherine and Kimberly Corp!
With this diverse blend of talents and accomplishments, these savvy identical twins sport sharp eyes for detail, strong analytical skills – and amazing eye-high kicks! Small business owners in Manhattan for over 10 years, Katherine and Kimberly capitalize on these eclectic credentials to weather tough economic climates and fierce competition. The bubbly redheads use innovation and inspiration to remain leaders in their industry and provide new products and services to their worldwide audience. Complete with Ivy League educations and real world experience, this energetic twosome applies their rich backgrounds and practical business acumen to help other entrepreneurs make sense (and cents!) out of the myriad of issues affecting small businesses today.
Entrepreneurs drive America’s economy, and in steering their own business, Kimberly and Katherine prove that rough seas do make the best sailors! Since opening Pilates on Fifth, a premier Pilates and wellness studio on New York’s prestigious 5th Avenue, the pair has overcome both the decline in business following the attacks of September 11th as well as the recent economic downturn of 2008. To ride the first waves of business uncertainty in late 2001-02, Katherine and Kimberly used their fluency in Japanese and comprehensive knowledge of the culture gained from their years in multinational firms in corporate Japan to generate additional revenue. They introduced programs and services in Japanese, allowing them to access two untapped markets: Japanese clients living in NYC and fitness professionals from Japan seeking Pilates training.
To brave the next storm of economic uncertainty in 2008, Kimberly and Katherine harnessed the power of the Internet and new technologies to generate additional revenue streams. The two launched podcasts in both English and Japanese in 2007, which served not only to increase their visibility on the worldwide stage, but also to provide an effective advertising vehicle for their Pilates teacher training program. With positive feedback from Australia to Poland and Sri Lanka to Brazil, the ambitious duo unveiled the Internet’s first Pilates video website, UltimatePilatesWorkouts.com, with full length exercise videos available on all Pilates equipment. By globalizing their business through the reach of Internet, Katherine and Kimberly increased their monthly revenue with relatively little overhead, thus buffering unpredictable studio attendance.
Proving that there is no business like small business, Katherine and Kimberly have been featured on the cover of Club Business International, the business magazine of the fitness industry, and in the pages of Pilates Style Magazine, Self, Health, Success for Women, Vogue and W Magazine. Their TV appearances include Martha, Geraldo at Large, Good Day New York and most recently Fox’s “The Strategy Room” and MSNBC’s “Your Business.” Due to the success of their Japanese business, the two starred in a Pilates television program in 2005 on Japan’s distinguished NHK network as the first “foreigners” the network had ever allowed to speak Japanese on air!
In their latest endeavors, Katherine and Kimberly launched www.smallbusinessanalysts.com where they analyze and outline current government acts and market fluctuations that affect small businesses today. As speakers and industry experts, they present at conferences and expos around the country on topics such as small business, spa and beauty, and Pilates and fitness. The two both hold undergraduate degrees from Duke University in Comparative Area Studies and Master’s degrees from Columbia University in International Affairs.
