Blending warmth with first-hand experience on modern-day life issues, Dr. Buttinsky AKA Dr. Cindy, a marriage and family therapist, and child development specialist, has worked closely with thousands of families, couples, children and teens over the past thirty years. She was honored by being chosen for the 2004-2005 Who's Who in American Women, as well as Who’s Who in Contributions to Education in 2011.
The culmination and years of dedication, to the well being of families led Dr. Cindy to becoming the author of the award winning book "Fun with Mommy and Me" and is the founder of the Mommy and Me Company and Association. She developed award winning children's videos, CD's and toys. Dr. Cindy has answered thousands of questions on many parenting websites and her national magazine columns. Many of her articles can be found on the web.
Dr. Cindy's professional standing has also been spotlighted both nationally and internationally on NBC's "TODAY SHOW", "CNN", and on "Attitudes", which aired on the Lifetime channel. In addition, to co-producing videos on health and family issues, Dr. Cindy was a co-host of a local television show called "Healthbeat" and has lectured and given seminars at colleges and other public forums throughout the country.
Dr. Buttinsky just relesaed her second book, Parenting: Unplugged! The purpose of this book is to get parents to "Unplug" themselves from their phones, Blackberry's, computers, i-pods, and take time to "tune in" and really listen to their kids! In addition, parents need to encourage their children to "unplug" themselves from technology and get back to basics, such as playing outside, doing arts and crafts, engaging in physical activities, and reading. Technology is a very important part of all our lives, however, it has its place. By providing "unplugged" activities for children, families can share in spending "special time" together that children so sorely need in this fast paced society!
Dr. Cindy attended Ithaca College for her undergraduate degree, and then to The University of Miami and received her Masters Degree in Music Therapy and became a registered Music Therapist. She received her Doctorate in Early Childhood Education and Development from Nova Southeastern University, and as a licensed therapist, is a Clinical Member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, and holds Diplomat Status of the American Psychotherapy Association.
Dr. Cindy has been in private practice since 1987 and continues her work with families, as the Director of The Life Enrichment Center,as well as consulting nationwide and appearing as a guest expert on television and radio.
Dr. Cindy believes that one of her most important qualifications is that of being a mother to her daughter Kacey. In her work, she combines her educational and therapeutic expertise, her experience in television and her love as a mother to bring special understanding and a sense of well being to all the people with whom she works.
